Rob Zombie’s The Munsters is the least violent Rob Zombie ever. Unlike most of his movies, this one is for the more younger set, so no nudity, extreme violence, foul language. He keeps it clean like the original. Sure some of the implications are bad, like where does the blood come from that the blood vendor sells, and poor Dr Orlock being eaten by his rats. But it’s all implied, so safe for very young kids.
This is probably a very good movie for introducing kids to watching horror movies. It moves at a good pace and is flashy and colorful. That last part really sticks out, because the movie is saturated in garish color. It’s almost a cartoon in how the color palette is presented.
The story itself is very simple. It’s about how Lily and Herman Munster met and fell in love. There isn’t a whole lot of conflict getting in the way of the love and marriage and everything more or less works out in the end. It was a cute, enjoyable movie without a lot of heavy stuff mixed in.
